Img_4601_2 Last July 27 we went to the 2008 Comic Convention… and on my blog I talked about people that I met… but there is a story that dare not to be told… but I can’t keep my silence… my guilt haunts me all night! haha! joke lang… gusto ko lang isulat to! Anyway, this is what happened… So walking around the exhibit hall, checking out things to buy, some exhibitors give out freebies like pins, posters, masks, shirts and other cool stuff! They actually gave us free bags (big big bags if I might add) to put our free stuff (and the things that you bought)! Anyway, so we were walking around and collecting stuff and looking for things to buy eh we passed by this booth “Go! Animate” which I think teach you how to draw and animate your drawings. Anyway, yun, they have this table set up with cards and lots of other things… So we each got a business card… then Ate Fanela told Christian to get a bag under the table. Maybe it’s free, there were 6 or 7 bags, no one was getting, might as well take one. So he did. We left the booth not sure if the bag was free or not (kaya tago agad yung bag! Haha!)… So, di naman kami masyadong guilty kasi “BAKA” nga free yung bag. But when we got home and checked out the stuff that we got eh we noticed that the Go! Animate bag has scratches inside! So we came in up with the conclusion that the Go! Animate bag was the bag they use for their laptops for their demos… We stole a bag from the Comic Convention! (Sorry…)

Img_4603_2 So we talked and laughed about it over dinner… We accidentally stole a bag and we can’t do anything about it anymore… Tapos na yung issue. So Ate Fanela was watching TV and feeding Lucas, we were eating dessert. Then suddenly Ate Fanela laughed! She won’t stop laughing… when she calmed down we asked her why was she laughing, she said “I couldn’t believe I told Christian to get the bag!” and she started laughing again… hahaha! She can’t get over it… up to know she still smiles when she sees the bag…

Well… as the saying goes… What’s better than having a Go! Animate bag…? It’s having it for free!

Comicon_1 The long awaited day! July 27, 2008… Comic Con 2008! While driving to the Comic Convention I thought I saw Wonder Woman driving a gray Toyota Corolla… I’m sure its Wonder Woman… I know her tiara… I’m sure it’s her! (maybe she forgot where she parked her invisible jet that is why she’s driving…) haha! (I know it’s corny but I have to get it out of my system!) hehe! Anyway, we rode the bus (provided by Comic Con) and I saw Avatar Kiyoshi (of Avatar: The last airbender)! I shared a bus with Avatar Kiyoshi! How cool was that!?! Anyway, I was very excited and the day hasn’t started yet… Di pa kami nakakababa ng bus eh I saw Joker and Harley papasok ng Comic Con and on our way to get our passes I saw Gaara of the sand (of Naruto), John Stewart (Green Lantern), Poison Ivy and Mystique… But the first real superhero I met was The Incredible Hulk himself, Lou Ferrigno. Then we started walking and I’m looking for stuff to buy (kala mo daming pera!) hahaha! Then we saw WB’s Supernatural stars. After some interesting people I want to take a picture with like The Mario Brothers, Naruto, Shrek and Fiona, Darth Maul, etc… etc… I finally had the courage to take a picture with my idols… Elektra and Wonder Woman! I was waiting for any of the X-Men kaso wala… Ngahahaha! But the weirdest superhero that I saw was Namor, he is the prince of Atlantis… siguro alam nyo na kung ano suot nya (I wonder bakit sya pinapasok… hmmm…). Anyway, I enjoyed Comic Con! Next year ulit (sana…)!

July 20… I woke up around 7:45am, it was cold, the air was crisp, the sun was up and it was Sunday! It was a very beautiful day! I felt like nothing could go wrong that day… and true enough… nothing went wrong; in fact everything went well…

Time to go to Church! Before I prepare for Church, I talked to my friends on YM and texted my brothers with Chikka… (nag promote talaga!) haha!

Anyway, yun… we went to Church, while walking towards the Church we (Melanie and I) saw this homeless Asian guy… he said “Good morning!” with all smiles, in return I also said “Good morning!” in full force (open-mouth smile, eyes wide open, kilay as high as it can get and with matching head bob) kulang nalang kaway! Hahaha! But I greeted him with all sincerity!

So, there we were, listening mass… Suddenly I heard someone fart sa likod ko… I thought it was Lucas kaya ok lang, he’s just a baby… But Ate Fanela started laughing… So it’s not Lucas who farted. The funny thing there was everybody was responding to the priest so maingay… then suddenly the room became quiet… sabi ata ng pare “let’s put ourselves in a moment of silence for our own personal intentions…” di ko lang sure… basta suddenly the Church became quiet… then dun ko narinig yung utot! “prooot-toot-toot” hahaha! (TIMING eh… PERFECT TIMING!) I won’t drop names kasi nakakahiya, respeto na lang sa tao yun… (ayan, di ko sinulat na ikaw yung umutot! Safe ka from shame and embarrassment…!)

After mass we went to Costco to buy flowers for Ate Fanela’s mom and dad and for Tita Mare for her birthday. Nung pumipili na sila ng bulaklak eh sabi ng nag titinda eh “Flowers are the universal language… You can express whatever you want using flowers. You can just give the flowers and they will be the one to talk for you… you know, they talk to you…” I think the lady has a point… but Melanie thinks she’s just plain weird… Anyway, yun, punta kami ng sementeryo to give the flowers to Ate Fanela’s parents… After visiting her parents, we went to eat at Point Point Joint (Turo-turo). I ate tapa and sisig… I’m a sucker for sisig!

After we ate we dropped by Ate Fanela’s aunt’s house to give her the flowers… The plan was just to drop by and give the flowers and greet her a happy birthday… but Uncle Ver troubled himself to buy ice cream… Nakakahiya naman umalis diba? Saka may ice cream eh! Haha! Then while eating ice cream, Uncle Ver approached us and we talked about real estate and stuff… I wasn’t really listening, di ako nakakarelate masyado dyan. Nung napunta na ang usapan sa cellphone eh medyo nakakarelate na ako so I listened… Uncle Ver was telling a story on how he got his Bluetooth headset. Here is how he told us his story:

“dati bumili ako ng kinakabit sa tenga, yung sinasaksak sa telepono, di ko naman kayang paganahin… mali ata, sinoli ko… eh etong bago eh nalalaglag sa tenga ko kaya nag tanong ulit ako sa tindera ng may sukbit. She said I should go to T-mobile for my headset. Yun, pumunta ako, tinanong ko kung meron silang ‘BRUTUS’…

After hearing “BRUTUS” eh everything went blank… I was focused on that word… I was laughing inside, syempre composed pa din, smiling, pero di obvious na pigil na tawa… nakikita ko ang Kuya Ace and nangingiti din sya, covering his face, kunyari he’s rubbing his eye… hahaha! May nakatalo na ng BLU-TOOT ko! Hahaha!

After the ice cream and Brutus eh we went home ‘cuz Kuya Ace has to “take his medicine” so, yun, umuwi na nga kami… Kuya Ace “took his medicine” and umalis ulit kami.

We went to Ikea (at Mission Valley, beside the library where Kuya Ace worked before and where I studied). We walked around looking for nice buys and bought some stuff for the house. I remember the days were I used to go there alone because I need to unwind from reading PT books (I’ll buy small things like, alarm clocks… batteries… pencil holder…) and I eat lunch at Costco (sa tapat lang)… pizza, chicken bake, turkey wrap… hehe!

Then we went to Staples to get some school supplies and print some of Melanie’s pictures… Then while we were waiting for the pictures to be developed Kuya Ace and I were talking beside the Xerox machine. Suddenly a Staples guy approached us and natakot na agad ako… kasi I was leaning on the Xerox machine… he said in an strong commanding voice “Excuse me… where did you get that shirt…?” (alam ko yung sagot… so kalma lang…) I said “at Mervyn’s (ok… tapos na…) then he asked another question “so do they have more of that, ‘cuz I wanna buy my brother one” (panic mode… di ko na anticipate yung follow up question…) so I just told him “I really don’t know, I’m not sure…” haaay! Ayoko ng na cau-caught off guard eh!

Anyway, yun, after staples eh we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond to check for some stuff for the house… hehehe!

After Bed, Bath & Beyond, we ate at IN-N-OUT… woohooo! Then dumaan kami ng Vons to buy pineapple rings for Ate Fanela’s pineapple upside-down cake… then pagkauwi sa bahay eh borlogs na ako! Pag gising ko nalang eh tapos na maglinis ng kotse ang Kuya Ace at naka bake na ang Ate Fanela ng cake!

It was a fun and excitement filled day!

* note to Kuya Ace: sorry di ako nakatulong sa pag linis ng van

* note to Uncle Ver: sorry if I posted your story without your consent I’m not making fun of you… It’s just funny… and thank you for teaching me how to drive!

* note to self: If you’re gonna wear your Marvel shirts eh prepare to be approached!

Img_4136 Again we watched a not so scary movie (hehe!) entitled The Devil’s Backbone. Actually it’s in Spanish and the original title was El Espinazo Del Diablo. And again, Melanie and I baked a cake but this time it’s all my hard work and craftsmanship! haha! But the ironic thing here was after we watched and ate cake we check our ideal body weight online and we were disappointed of what we found out! haha! Ano yun? Go figure! haha!

Click here to see a master baker at his best! hahaha!
